"Last (burden in Dutch) is a performance from an earlier project entitled Augenmusik (2016), in which multiple solitary individuals harnessed to flashing lights cross Paris to converge in its centre. Last highlights the singular body within an ensemble. A lone individual wears a flashing beacon in the exhibition space, dazzling his face with a bluish tint. A light that is both welcoming (like a lighthouse in the middle of the sea announcing the Promised Land) and a harbinger of a ghostly threat, the flashing beacon is passed from one visitor to another, who is silently asked never to put it down. A cumbersome burden, it is the symbol of the power and urgency of our realities. For the duration of the exhibition, the rotating beacon is placed at the entrance to the room as a witness to past action, and as an introduction to the intimate stories".
